Located in an industrial area of El Monte near Whittier Narrows, Progress Brewing is a modest establishment with brewing equipment in one section separated by a wall with a cut-out. You can kind of see what’s back there and it is indeed an interesting observation. The tasting section here has a bar with stools and about 3 benches to sit, drink, watch sports, and play board games. For the total space of the building, it is really a nice layout. As for beers, they have many styles to choose from up on their board. Overall, the facility may not be the best of locations, but once inside, it is indeed a cool place to hang out with good beers.
The beers of PB stand out from other breweries because they are quite creative in their beer recipes. The brewmaster is quite a talented person and you will certainly be impressed by the beer tastes. Here are some of the best beers you can enjoy here-
- XBALANQUE – Aged with Brettanomyces for 9 months in former brandy barrels, this complex beer was blended with 10% of young beer to enhance, complement, and balance the intense aged flavors.
- CENTURION- With tasting notes of rum raisin, blueberries, dark cherries, and brown sugar; and hops of German Northern Brewer, and UK Fuggles this beer is aged in red wine barrels for 4 months to give it a powerful taste!
- WOLVERINE- It is a American Amber Ale with tasting notes of caramel, toffee, cedar, and made from the following hops- German Norther Brewer, Cascade.
As far as food is concerned, Progress Brewing sells chips but that’s about it. Good thing is you can bring your own food. There is usually a food truck parked outside that can also offer you delicious snacks. You can also refer to the food truck calendar on their website to stay updated.
There are many entertainment options available at PB other than beers. For instance, there are a lot of board games on the tables here so you can hang out and play there. Then there are big flat screen TVs which you can use to catch up with the latest sports action.
All in all, Progress Brewing is indeed an amazing place for craft beer lovers. You must definitely check it out! Each trip to this place is worth it!
